How the cases are built

Building of these doll / display cases is very labor intensive and only a retired
craftsman like myself can provide a quality product at a very reasonable price.

As stated on other pages of my web site, my wife recently passed away from cancer
and I build these cases to keep busy, I think you can understand.

NOTE - A few steps are left out due to trade secrets.

About 13 years ago an online friend who constructed dolls got me interested in building these cases.
It took me almost a year with many trial and error and wasted material to learn how to
build these cases and make them quality and one of the hardest parts was packing
so all cases arrived in perfect condition during shipping.

I take great care in the building and it is very labor intensive but you do not
pay for this as I stated, I do this just to keep busy and the prices are in almost
all cases much less and better quality than others on the net as I make almost
no profit, just a pastime for a 74 year old retiree.

It all starts with 2" thick cedar boards. I cut them into 1 1/4" strips
(skipping the knots of course) and then into 1 1/8" strips to give me
4 smooth sides that are easier to sand.

Then I frame the case, route the frame for beauty and then sand the
complete case before staining with your choice of stain. After staining I measure
and cut the Plexiglass to fit and then attach the Plexiglass to the frame. There is also
a Plexiglass piece cut to fit the top and fits in groves for easy removal.
This is one of the parts that is a trade secret, attaching the Plexiglass without
getting any on the Plexiglass and being permanent. There are also 1/4" strips
attached to finish the inside where the Plexiglass it attached to the frame
to give you a nice clean finished product.

As you can see the whole process is labor intensive and takes about 8 hours
per case with 12 hour drying times between some steps. Last of all comes
the packing, please see, http://www.dollcasesnew.com/packing.html

As you can see, I take great care and time in creating these cases and at a price
you can afford. There is nothing like a great hand crafted product made in the USA.
